Know about Kimberly Byrd Philadelphia
Kimberly Byrd Philadelphia, a fourteen year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department was recently appointed to the position of Executive Officer by the Police Commissioner Sylvester M. Johnson. She is the first female to be appointed to this position. Her hands on and innovative approach helped make the Department an effective model of service to the community.
Kimberly Byrd Philadelphia is the first female appointed to the position of Executive Officer in the Philadelphia Police Department.
Prior to her appointment of Executive Officer she was the Chief of Staff to the Police Commissioner. During her tenure in civil service, she has demonstrated a resilient work ethic. This dedication has helped her attain both the ranks of Detective and Patrol Sergeant. Her varied assignments throughout the City have given her an invaluable understanding of all aspects of law enforcement and its effects on quality of life in an urban environment.
Executive Officer Byrd is well known for her unwavering commitment to the community. As a female law enforcement officer, she is especially dedicated to helping young women develop their talents while advocating the importance of diversity. She has mentored many youths through Organized Anti-Crime Community Network (OCEAN), Mothers In Charge, the Honickman Center, as well as developed a mentoring program with the 6 & 70 grade female students of her alma mater, Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School
Executive Officer Byrd has been the recipient of numerous awards. These include the Ment Commendations from the Police Department, State Representative Jewell Williams, 2004 Susquehanna Community Festival Cultural Award, the Floyd Chapman Memorial Community Service Award, the Reverend Henry T. Wells, Standing Up for God’s People Award and the Sixers Hometown Hero Award Most recently, Executive Officer Byrd received the prestigious “Fenel Award,” presented annually by the Philadelphia Daily News for dedication, civic commitment, fairness and respect for the rule of law ” Executive Officer, Bynd is a graduate of the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy Class #228 and the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration, Drug Unit Commanders Academy Class 60.
In addition to her involvement in the community, Executive Officer, Byrd has an interminable allegiance to the Police Department and its family of officers. She is involved in all the major aspects of policing and a member of the National Organization of Blacks in Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), Guardian Civic League, and National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
Executive Officer, Kimberly Byrd Philadelphia was born and raised in North Philadelphia. She is the mother of talented and accomplished Seventy year old daughter.
